Along with the federal bills to stop horse slaughter in the US AND the transportation of horses to Canada and Mexico for slaughter, Illinois has a bill that passed the State House a couple of weeks ago and is currently in committee in the State Senate. Anyone in the state reading this, please contact your State Senators. The rest of us need to continue to encourage our Representatives and Senators to pass the federal bills, HR 503 in the House and S 311 in the Senate.
This must be stopped! Please pass this along and it is crossposted to the usual suspects.

My car was stolen from in front of my house in W. Berkeley last Friday night. I got the car back last night...it was towed from N. Richmond near a park for CA vehicle code violation 22651(c): (c) When any vehicle is found upon a highway or any public lands and a report has previously been made that the vehicle has been stolen or a complaint has been filed and a warrant thereon issued charging that the vehicle has been embezzled.

The assholes stole almost ALL my horse stuff that was in the back of the car (16" Crump English jumping close contact saddle, bridle, 2 halters, lead rope, long reins, box full of brushes, hoof picks, etc, white Troxel helmet with a small chip out of the brim), my car stereo (for which they had no face plate), my boyfriend's cell phone which had been left in the car, a toolbox, an old and yucky dog frisbee (the flying squirrel), a dog "Chuck it" toy, and my (old and corroded--I needed a new one anyway) car battery. Otherwise the car was in fine shape. Strangely, they covered the ends of the battery cables with clear plastic tape. There was a bunch of stuff left in the trunk as well (e.g. old trader Joe's bags, a plastic bucket, dog water container, a CD, the Chilton manual for my car, all my paperwork, maps, and everything in my glove box) so I don't think they threw everything else out looking for the faceplate--they must be planning to sell what they took. So if anyone sees stuff like this at a flea market or on Craigslist, please let me know!!

Btw, it cost $270 to get my car out...$155 towing fee, $75 forklift fee (since the car "didn't come in with keys"), and a $47 storage fee...this is when I came in to get the car the same day it was towed. What a racket!!

I received an email request from this tribe for a farrier/hoof care professional.

I have a 1500 lb. 16.2hh Paint gelding with light hooves. He had an colt accident with barbed wire that resulted in a hoof scar/weekness from behind the fetlock, thru the corona band, thru the hoof wall to the ground.

I had very little knowledge of hoof care, but felt I wanted him barefoot, and most especially, able to be barefoot safely with great feet. He lives at liberty on a 60 acre preserve with 13 other horses. Hard clay, rock, hills, etc. No standing water, spring pumped troughs.

I discovered Jaime Jackson and his method of natural hoofcare. No drastic hoofwall reduction, no Keratex, no drastic sole shaping.

The website is aanchp.org.

There is a certified AANHCP person in the San Jose/Gilroy area. He is incredible. He is listed on the site. My horse is in Marin county and he also has clients as far north as Novato.

Bradleigh's feet are incredible and the thrush/cracking has gone away. Hoof scar/break is healing from the inside to the outside. Thicker hoofwall each time.

I've organized dinners for impromptu get togethers for other tribes, and am interested in doing the same for BAEN. Any takers?

Depending on interest and availability - time, date, place TBD

I try and schedule dinners in various locales (SC, South Bay, Ebay, NoBay, SF, Peninsula, et al) so that a reach is created in each area. It's a fun way for people to get together between events, a way to gather a community presence in person, and get to know your fellow Community members outside the virtual arena.

If interested, please respond here, or alternative you can contact me via my tribe.net email / YIM/AIM (located in my profile)

Much love to you!
